"They've said some crazy things concerning me over the years. I indicate, okay: 'He bit the head off a bat.' Yes. 'He bit the head off a dove.' Yes. But then you listen to things like, 'Ozzy went to the show last night, but he wouldn't perform until he'd killed fifteen puppies . . .' Now me, kill fifteen puppies? I love puppies. I've got eighteen of the f**king things at home. I've killed a few cows in my time, intellect you. And the chickens. I shot the chickens in my house this night.
It haunts me, all this crazy stuff. Each day of my life has been an event. I took lethal combinations of booze and drugs for thirty f**king years. I survived a direct hit by a plane, suicidal overdoses, STDs. I've been accused of attempted murder. Then I nearly died while riding over a bump on a quad bike at f**king two miles per hour.
People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't recognize what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall together with the other children from my street and asked me which one of us was gonna do it to the age of sixty, which one of us would end up together with five children and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and Beverly Hills, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f**king way. But here I am: ready to inform my story, in my own words, for the first time.
A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my time. I've always been drawn to the dark side, me. But I ain't the devil. I'm just John Osbourne: a working-class kid from Aston, who quit his job in the factory and went looking for a good time." |

Interesting for fans of Ozzy or Biographies, but... 2010-09-08 |
| By Benjamin Menard (lake stevens, wa) |
| Due to Ozzys severe dyslexia, the book has been dictated, which is actually a bonus, because the whole thing is presented in Ozzys own loveable speachpattern. It's impossable to not hear his voice as you read this to yourself. But there is one major flaw from the get go, here. Ozzys brain is so fried, he doesn't really remember all that much. I had hoped for The Dirt times ten, and there are hilarious anechdotes scattered throughout, but not as many as you would expect from the maddest man in rock. On a happier note, as of the publishing of the book, Ozzy has been 100% sober for a couple of years, and healthier than he's been in decades. |

One of the funniest books I have ever read 2010-08-20 |

| This book gives a lot of insight into Ozzy's life and is very interesting. The book is hilarious and the man is lucky to be alive with all of his substance abuse and antics. Highly recommended! |
Love Ozzy but this book is a bore for a true Ozzy fanatic 2010-08-17 |
| By Freddy G (New Jersey) |
I have to start by saying I love Ozzy, I always have. I have seen him countless times live, I own every studio and live album he ever put out with Black Sabbath and solo, you might say I have been a fanatic for years. Which might explain why this book bored me so much. I am familiar with every story in the book and have seen/heard them countless times either in print in magazines or in interviews done by the Ozzman on the radio.
There were a few moments where I did find myself laughing out loud which is why I am giving this book 3 stars as opposed to 2.
If you are new to the world of Ozzy Osbourne then this book is a great place to learn about the history of Ozzy Osbourne but on the flip side if you are a 35+ years fan like myself of Black Sabbath and Ozzy you've probably already seen or heard all that this book has to say.
Plus it's written with an extremely British flair, you might want to get an American English to British dictionary if you are unfamiliar with the Brits slang terms.
Love ya Ozzy and I hope you live another 60 years, just stick to music from now on. |
He is Ozzy! 2010-08-10 |
| By N. Bartol (Revere, MA United States) |
| Simply put - one of the best books I have ever read. Extremely truthful, and very well written. I never followed Ozzy or Black Sabbath. I was raised in the 80's on Rick Springfield, REO Speedwagon, etc. I was not ever into heavy metal. I picked this book up in the library and I remember how much my brother loved him. I could not put this book down once I started it. My husband, who never reads, read most of it as well. Ozzy is honest about his life, and I appreciate any human who admits that he has regrets. It is a wonderful book, and I highly recommend it even if you only have a passing notion (like I did) of the person you thought Ozzy was. |
